## How the AI takeoff works

1. Upload a PDF plan set to a bid.
2. The AI reads each sheet's title block to identify the discipline (civil, plumbing, electrical and others) and skips sheets that only carry general notes.
3. It drafts a takeoff of counted items (EA) and linear runs (LF), each with its source sheet and a confidence score. Lengths are reported only when the sheet scale is confirmed; otherwise the item is flagged.
4. Results are grouped by system (sewer, water, storm and others) and by category (pipe, fittings, structures, valves, hydrants, meters, services) with subtotals.
5. Items are matched to a standard assembly library organized by the same scopes, including structures such as manholes, catch basins, headwalls, box culverts and wingwalls. Contractors enter their own labor, material and equipment rates.
6. An estimator reviews flagged items and approves the takeoff. Nothing goes into the estimate until a person accepts it.
